Fanfares, please! Hot on the heels of Disney's announcement that the long-awaited musical adaptation of Frozen, the top-selling animated movie of all time, will be heading to Broadway in Spring 2018, they've now shared with us their chosen city for try-outs. That's right, Frozen The Musical will take its first bow at the Denver Center in Fall 2017, before joining other Disney blockbusters like Aladdin and The Lion King on the Great White Way.
FROZEN the musical is finally on its way!
Anna, Elsa, Olaf and Kristoff et al will be brought to life onstage by original composer and lyrics team Kristen Anderson-Lopez and EGOT winner Robert Lopez, who between them have cultivated many Broadway hits including In Transit, The Book Of Mormon, and Avenue Q, as well as book write Jennifer Lee (Wreck it Ralph).
Also included in the starry creative team is Tony-winning director Michael Grandage (Red) and Tony-winning choreographer Christopher Gattelli. While taking its inspiration from the movie, this show boasts brand new songs and story material to make it a unique night out at the theater!
What is Frozen About?
Full story details for Frozen: The Musical have yet to be confirmed. The movie was loosely based on Hans Christian Anderson's fairytale The Snow Queen, and tells the story of two royal sisters, Elsa and Anna, who must grow up alone after losing their parents in a tragic sea accident.
Elsa, the elder of the two must also contend with a secret - she has the power to create ice and snow with her bare hands. Anna, by contrast is a sunny, albeit naive young lady who yearns for the outside world. When Elsa's power is inadvertently revealed one day, she flees to the mountains to live out a life of solitude. Anna must set out to find her, and bring her home, as a terrible power is threatening to overcome the kingdom, and Elsa is the only one who can stop it!
