Chicago and the Doobie Brothers at Red Rocks Amphitheatre

Why see Chicago and the Doobie Brothers?

The veteran rocks once again team up in concert!

Again gearing up for yet another mammoth cross-country tour this summer, newly inducted Rock and Roll Hall of Farmers Chicago team up again with fellow rockers The Doobie Brothers! First touring together to popular acclaim in 2010, the friends and veteran bands are in huge demand, following the recent 50th anniversary of the former. The self-proclaimed 'Rock & Roll band with horns' produced hit after hit in the 70s and 80s, including the iconic ballad If You Leave Me Now, as well as Baby, What A Big Surprise and Old Days. Their blend of soft rock, jazz and pop saw them shift over 100 million records worldwide, and they stand as second only to The Beach Boys in the list of Billboard's best charting American bands.

The Doobie Brothers in turn have sold more than a staggering 48 million albums, winning four Grammy Awards in the process. Their biggest hits include Black Water and What a Fool Believes, both winning gold certification during the 1970s. The joint tour kicks off this June, hitting in , ,

Agree Doobies should have headlined

The Doobies came out rocking and pretty much stole the show. Most play multiple instruments at a virtuoso level. 3 can play lead guitar and do. Lead singer changes throughout a song and they may be better musicians than they used to be. Chicago was also very good, but should have opened stronger with a few upbeat hits and closed strong also. We left before the last song as this concert was pretty tiring and one of our party over-served herself. ... Read more

Doobie Brothers Chicago Boston, MA

Once again, the Doobie Brothers rocked the place from start to finish, I wish they could have played longer. Chicago, is very good, but a few slow moments during their long set quieted the crowd down. The new lead singer / bass player was good, but tried to hard to sound like the previous members. Left before last song "25 or 6 to 4" I was disappointed that the two bands did not finish the night sharing the stage, as they have in the past. I'm sure I'll be back to see them next year, regardless of the billing. ... Read more

Chicago and Doobies blow the roof off!!

What a thrill to see two of the greatest rock bands of all time. The Doobies song selection was spot on (even though only one Michael McDonald era song was in the set), and displayed incredible musicianship. Pat and Tommy still sound great. Their voices have held up well over the years. McFee may have been the most versatile guy on the stage, playing guitar, harp, violin and vocals. Wow!! is all I can say!! Chicago clearly had a tough act to follow, but were up to the task, delving deep into their catalog, playing several songs that may not have been familiar to the casual fan (e.g. Introduction, Wake Up Sunshine, I'm a Man, and the entire "Ballet for a Girl From Buchanan" multi-movement piece), but were thrilling to the ardent fan's ears. The bands complement each other very well, and it was clear the audience was thrilled with both performances. The PNC Charlotte venue was great. Get there early, as traffic is not managed as well as PNC/Raleigh. ... Read more
